This screenshot shows the critical state of Bergen Optometry’s website when we took over. Organic traffic was declining (249 visitors), keywords were dropping (-107), and the backlink profile was weak (DR 3.4) with almost no referring domains.

Why did the local SEO audit come first?

The reason is simple: to accurately understand why a business is losing growth, we apply our comprehensive SEO audit method. Based on the audit report, we then build a tailored SEO strategy and implement it step by step. Our analysis revealed that Bergen Optometry’s mobile page speed score was only 48 out of 100. We also found that several important service pages were not indexed by Google, making them invisible to potential patients.

The audit also revealed that their Core Web Vitals were weak. This was sending a bad signal to search engines and hurting the user experience. These technical problems were keeping the site from ranking, no matter how good the content was.

This laid the perfect groundwork for the 67% traffic growth that followed.

Identifying "Easy-Win" Keywords

Once the technical foundation was solid, we looked for “Low-Hanging Fruit.” These are keywords where the website was already ranking on Page 2 or 3 (Positions 11– 30) but getting zero traffic.

For this project, keywords like “eye exam Hackensack” were stuck just outside the first page. We focused on these keywords because they can deliver results quickly.

With just a little on-page optimization, these keywords can jump to the Top 3 very quickly.
